今学期の授業

私は昔から英語をしっかり勉強したいと思っていました。でも、きっかけを作ってもいつも続かなくてダメになっていました。そして今回もあまり積極的に取り組むことが出来なかったと思います。今回、思ったことですが、秋学期は英語を勉強するのではなく楽しんでみようと思います。それが、英語を勉強するために大事だと感じました。今学期に英語を勉強したことで苦労したことは、単語一つでも意味がいろいろあって、一つの意味に対して単語がいろいろありその使い分けが難しかったことです。また、人の名前や地域の名前などそういったものは調べるのが難しく戸惑うことがありました。しかし、成長したこともありました。普段英語の音楽を聴くことも多いのですが、そのときにただ聞くのではなく、単語や意味を理解しながら聞くことが少しですができるようになりました。

Spare the rod and spilethe child, as the Good Book says.

sin and suffering -罪と苦しみ both-両方
I'm a laying up sin and suffering forus both, I know.

Scratch-かすり傷 laws-法 
He's full of the Old Scratch, but laws-a-me!

lash-まつげ somehow-どうにか
I ain't got the heart to lashhim, somehow.

conscience-良心 
Every time I let him off, my conscience does hurt me so,and every time I hit him my old heart most breaks.

Scripture-聖書 reckon-数える
as theScripture says, and I reckon it's so.

punish-罰する 
I'll just be obleeged to make himwork, to-morrow, to punish him.

mighty-強力 else-ほか ruination-破滅
It's mighty hard to make him workSaturdays, when all the boys is having holiday, but he hates work morethan he hates anything else, and I've GOT to do some of my duty by him,or I'll be the ruination of the child."

whirl-ぐるぐるまわる snatch-ひっつかむ instant-瞬間 scramble-よじ登る disappear-見えなくなる
The old lady whirled round, and snstched her skirts out of danger. The lad fled on the instant. scrambled up the high board-fence, and disappeard over it.

gentle-やさしい laugh-笑う
His aunt Polly stood surprised a moment , and then broke into a gentle laugh.

hang-かける trick-いたずら 
hang the boy , can't I never learn anyting? Ain't he played me tricks enough like that for me to be looking out for him by this time? But old fools is the biggest fools ther is . Can't learnan old dog new trick.

alike-みなおなじで 
as the saying is, But my goodness, he never plays them alike ,

She went to the open door and stood in it and looked out among the tomato vines and "Jimpson"weeds that constituted the garden.

angle-アングル人 calculate-計算する distance-距離
No Tom. So she lifted up her voice at an angle calculated for distance and shouted.

slight-わずかな behind-うしろに seize-とらえる、つかむ slack-ゆるい arrest-逮捕する 
There was a slight noise behind her and she turned just in time to seize a small boy by the slack of his roundabout and arrest his fligft.

spectacles-めがね
The old lady pulled her spectacles down and looked over them about the room; then she put them up and looked out under them.

seldom-めったに〜しない
She seldom or never looked THROUGH them for so small a thing as a boy;

lid-ふた
She could have seen through pair of stove-lid just as well.

perplex- 困らせる moment-瞬間、機会
She looked perplex for a moment,

fiercely-どう猛に、はげしく 
and then said, not fiercely ,

loud-声の大きい furniture-家具
but still loud enough for the furniture to hear;

bend-まがる broom-ほうき
for by this time she was bending down and punching under the bed with the broom.

punctuate-中断する 
and so needed breath to punctuate the punches with .

resurrect-(古い習慣などを)復活させる 
She resurrected nothing but the cat,

I like English. I tink study English very mach. But it was deffcult for me.
However, I will make on effort today.

I often see the movie. The word is heard recently.
